Thursday Moning 9:30

Hi everyone,

Sorry for the delay in getting this blog started. We experienced some technical problems here at the hotel, which hopefully have now been sorted out.

We had a very easy journey up to Petropolis yesterday, arriving at the hotel at about 10 o'clock. The children were very excited but soon settled into their rooms. After a short time to unpack we had an introductory assembly and a tour of the grounds, which are quite extensive. After lunch we went into Petropolis and explored the Cathedral. The students set about the work they had to do in a very enthusiastic way. After the Cathedral we went onto the Casa Do Colono. The tour here was very informative and the students gathered a lot of information about how people used to live in Petropolis.

On returning to the hotel we enjoyed an hour of free time. Most of the children either played tennis, football or were involved in a game like charades with Miss Patricia and Miss Alice.

After dinner we played the adventure game in which the children had to search the grounds of the hotel for people of different professions in order to gain points for their team. Some of the people were hard to find and the game lasted over half an hour. The children had a great time though and went to bed thoroughly tired out.

Today we had breakfast and have had the gymkana event. Again the children had a great time rushing about trying to be the first to complete the list of things to find and do.

I have been in contact with Ms. Anastacia at school but please rest assured that everything here is going well and that all of the children are very happy. I am going to post some pictures here of some of the events of the past day. I will write more tonight. There is great excitement about the disco.
